For centuries people have prided themselves on the quality and craftsmanship of something they made from their own hands. In this day and age, when it seems like our whole world is synthetic, it is comforting to see that craftsmanship is still alive and well. I recently became aware of a company that still believes that the best things in life are handmade. Links & Kings, a company as classic as their name suggests, are the makers of one of the finest leather golf bags (as well as other leather goods) I have ever seen.

The looks of these bag speaks for themselves. Links & Kings allows you to completely customize your bag. I am a fairly classic guy, so the classic brown with contrast stitching really spoke to me. They have several color options to choose from. Here is what they list on their website, linksandkings.com. Black, White, Cognac Brown, Café Brown, British Tan, Navy Blue, Forest Green, Merlot, Red, Purple, Stone Grey, Cobalt Blue, Pink, Hot Pink, Lavender, Lime, Orange, Olive and Yellow. I mean they not only have Pink, but Hot Pink as well! Heck, they even made a Union Jack bag. If you can think of it, they can most likely make it.
Feel:
The leather that Links & Kings uses to make their bags is extremely high quality. It is soft and supple. The bag is really comfortable to carry and I have done 36 holes in one day without any issues. I am on about my 10th round with the bag and can tell you that it is a very easy bag to carry. The shoulder strap has just the right amount of padding and the part that contacts your shoulder is a very soft suede material that will resist the wear and tear of years of carrying.
Performance:
It is kind of funny to talk about performance when talking about a bag as classic as this, but I would like to point out some of the things that make this bag work. First the 7.5” inch opening is just the right size to get your clubs in and out without binding. The two way divider is classic and allows you to keep your woods and putter from commingling with your irons and wedges. The towel ring doesn’t seem like it would be a big deal, but it is the perfect touch and Links & Kings is the only leather bag company that I am aware of that has this. Finally, the two zippered pockets are just the right size and number to carry what you need.
Overall:
I am in love with this golf bag. As a devoted walking golfer, this bag is absolutely perfect and a bag that I can pass down to my children some day. Links & Kings is extremely easy to work with and despite being really busy, they custom made my bag and in my hands in a matter of a few weeks, in fact 3 weeks is the usual turnaround time. This type of service is not the norm in their field and it is why Links & Kings bags can be found popping up at many of the most prestigious golf courses in the world. At $850 this bag is for the discerning golfer who is looking for a bag that can not only make a statement, but one that can also last a lifetime.
