Golf GPS rangefinder devices are almost in every golfer’s hands. The market for the golf GPS continues to evolve and is growing hand over fist. Every time I tee it up or even watch one of my players, they are all reaching in their bags for a GPS device to give them yardage to the flag. You see, sometimes my adrenaline is flowing (because of course I am way under par) and I find I shake a bit and it takes more time to aim correctly and I lose my focus as I get frustrated trying to get the yardage I need when I need it.

What’s Behind the VC300—the Technology

Voice Caddie is the first voice-guided golf GPS rangefinder based upon its website. It utilizes our wonderful satellite system and has thousands of courses loaded into it and the Voice Caddie Global company continues to load courses in from all over the world. You don’t need to do anything as it continues to make sure where you play will be at your fingertips—literally.

The VC300 automatically recognizes golf courses and holes from the field via GPS reception…basically it bounces off the satellites above to let you know exactly where you are on the course: Golf Course, hole and distance to green.

The VC300 is different from the previous models as it gives you exactly yardage to the front of the green, the middle and back of the green. What’s more is that if you come across a hole that has two greens (one right and one left) you can easily tell the VC300 which green the flag is on with a couple of quick clicks and a swipe. Awesome technology and preciseness!

This GPS Device is different from the Voice Caddies past. The VC300 allows for you to click it with the touch of your finger to get the distance to the center. In addition, you can swipe your finger across the glossy covering forward or backward to get distances to the front and back. This is way cool!

Look and Feel

The look is sleek with a glossy like skin and the one I have is white. It has a great feel to the touch—smooth and your finger glides across the surface (I will explain the importance of this in a moment). It also has a bit of a triangle shape which I love and nothing sticks out as bothersome.

The VC300 clips right on the lid of your visor or hat with a secure grab. You will also have a ball mark that comes with it and fastens to the metal part just under your cap as well. Nice addition to the GPS device. I feel very comfortable taking a hard ‘rip’ at my ball and have no worry that the VC300 will be flying off and following by ball down the fairway.

Along with the VC300 itself, you will find it comes in a cool box with instructions on how to use (and the instructions are so easy…no 400 page book!), a USB cord (allows you to hook into your computer and join VCManager to help track your game from online), and outlet adapter to plug the USB cord in and recharge the VC300.

Overall the LOOK and FEEL are perfect with a sleekness addition to your cap as well as it is light and barely noticeable to you the player.

I love the way your finger slides across the ‘skin covering’ so you can find out the distances to the front and back…even with sweaty or dirty fingers you can get what you need.

PERFORMANCE

Of course with anything that I review, it needs to take on the rigors of my testing! I took the VC300 out to 3 different courses in the area and it detected all of them…just had to be sure.

While playing with the VC300, I found it was spot on with every yardage. I even decided to hit a very errant shot to see if it could tell me how far I was to the front, middle and back of the green while deep in the thick trees and fescue. It did its job and I did not have to search for a sprinkler head or some yardage marker…I had the yardage right there, right that moment at my fingertips—just a quick click and swipe and I knew what to pull out of my bag to execute my focused and intended shot.

Every person in my groups was amazed at the ease and simplicity of the VC300. Most even started to ask me for the yardage and put their bulky devices away. Now, you will not get exact yardage to the pin, but really knowing the distance to the front, center and back is just what you need. Hey, Jack Nicklaus will tell you that he always aimed to the center of the green—I think he did well in his career.

Another great thing I was able to discover with the VC300 is that on a par 5 if I was 300 yards away from the front of the green, I could use my mathematical skills to pick the correct club to hit to the yardage I feel most comfortable for my 3^rd shot into the green. I found that it is very difficult to use the GPS binocular type devices from that distance. So with a click or swipe you can be precise with your club selection.

Now the one thing I found slightly backwards was the swiping front and back on the cover when I had the VC300 on the right side of my hat. What I mean is that when it is on the right side, you need to swipe back away from the target to get the distance to the front and swipe forward to get the distance to the back. I found this just took a few holes to get used to, but really it is nothing. Even if you swipe the wrong way, in a second you swipe the opposite and you have the yardage you needed. I think it was made for the left side of your cap/visor and I was unable to find a way to reverse it, but I like it on the right, so I am just fine making the adjustment.

Another great performance feature is the voice itself and how upbeat yet calming it is for the player. You can adjust the volume and whether you need yards or meters. You never need to worry what hole you are on as the VC300 states the hole you are on as you approach it. “Hole Number 4 Par 5”.

The LoudMouth X Watch will not Disappoint

I had the honor and distinct privilege of reviewing a ‘Smashing and Loud’ watch! LoudMouth has put out the LoudMouth X watch which I totally fell in love with at first site. Mind you, I love watches, but this one is amazing.

At first I wondered why they chose me at Bunkersparadise.com to review a watch. What was it all about? Would it hit my shot for me? (Don’t we all wish that some days!!) Then when it arrived, I just knew it was because anyone on Team LoudMouth, and those considering joining, would want to get their hands on this watch to set themselves apart from the rest of their peers. On the course, off the course, on a date and hanging with friends at home—this watch has created a stir all around me and everyone wants to get one and bit a part of the ‘in’ crowd!

Specifics behind the LoudMouth X Watch

This is a watch that will get you noticed no matter where you wear it…and it can be worn everywhere. What will really catch the eye of your closest friends it that one day you will have say a green band on and the next day and orange one on. They will think you have purchased many watches…but the truth is that LoudMouth will give you 3 bands that are easily interchangeable to fit your ‘mood’…or match your clothes. There are multiple LoudMouth X watch faces to choose from and each comes with 3 different color bands.

Overall there are 120 different combinations you can create with simply purchasing a few of the very unique and very LoudMouth like faces. I chose the Magic Bus face and love it to pieces.

Each watch comes with a very easy and Quick Change System allowing for a magical change even on the go.  If you prefer to change it up a bit with a different color band, different LoudMouth pattern or simply to just change it to match the way you feel.

Each watch has hypoallergenic silicone straps and LED illuminated faces (my 3 ½ year old loves this feature…ok, so I love this feature as well secret be told!) It also has an Analog Japanese Movement (this is where there are 3 hands representing the hour, minute and seconds). As mentioned it is totally interchangeable and you can buy one or many to up your combinations and style. (I totally plan to get a few more to have lots of options to meet my mood and dress). Lastly, you can be confident in the design of the face as it is made of Ultra tough safety plastic face and case (this is huge since my daughter decided it would make for a cool Frisbee like object chucking it across our travertine floor!—no damage to report at all.)

The Look

If you haven’t guessed by now, the look is stunning and unique making heads turn your way to check out your ‘wrist candy’. Multiple face designs make it easy to choose the one you like the best. However, I couldn’t choose one, so I am purchasing many to fit my needs and desires of a look that will kill.

You certainly can’t go wrong with the look as there are 3 different color bands to accompany each watch face purchased. Now I don’t see that happening much with any other watches allowing you to pick and chose the look you want that day or night.

The LED flashing colors allows for another great addition to the look as it gives a nice colorful rainbow of colors to show off the watch. Side note—the button for the LED is hidden so you can surprise your friends with your magic.

Overall, the look is sensational and you will be the talk in every round of golf, every 19^th hole and everywhere outside of golf. This watch has the look to wear it any time, any day and everywhere you go.

Feel and Performance:

With a silicone strap, this watch is beyond comfortable. As a matter of fact, I am wearing it now as I type and there is not ‘digging’ into my wrist from resting my hands on the keyboard. In addition, it is light and feels smooth and like just a part of me…like your own skin.

Now I was a little concerned at how it would feel on the course playing and practicing and it felt wonderful and didn't impede my swing whatsoever. It felt great on and looked even better. I wore it every round since I received it and never once has it been a bother. I also wore it straight from the course to dinner and home and it was perfect.

As far as performance, it kept the time perfectly and allowed me to swing with amazing smoothness.

But really what was more important to me is how easy it will be to change out bands to meet my wants and needs. LoudMouth says that it would be an easy change and they are spot on. It took me less than 30 seconds to change out bands. It is beyond easy so it totally performed to their claims. Hey, I am a real stickler to ease of use and not creating a massive mental breakdown of frustration. The LoudMouth X watch gave me the serenity I needed to change out the bands with calmness. J

Overall, the LoudMouth X Watch performs absolutely precisely and perfectly. One thing to note, the LoudMouth X watch is not water proof, so this is not the watch to keep on if you need to dive in a lake to retrieve your errant shot, or the club you just threw.

Time to Develop a More Powerful Swing with a Unique Tool

Zeroline approached us at Bunkers Paradise to take a good look at the Golf MTRx APP and see what we think. After a discussion, our Founder decided that I would take it on and give it what you have heard before is the ‘Intensive Kate Hughes Challenge’. I didn’t know much about it because I am an old school player—you know the one that played on tour and uses her legs to walk off yardages and ‘feels’ her swing and once in a while gets a friend to take a look at the basics of the swing. Well, as technology continues to advance and give us ways to improve our games, I have decided to take an inside look at all that will advance my game…to my next level.

And so I received the APP and downloaded it on my phone about 3 weeks ago. There are some reviews I like to take time on to be sure I give it the Kate Hughes once over. Hey, I have to really believe in something to give it the thumbs up…and guess what…Zeroline’s Golf MTRx APP definitely got the thumbs up.

Behind the Scenes of the GOLF MTRx APP

When we think about our swings, most of us focus on the arms because that is what is holding the club and we can buy into the thoughts that this is where the power is generated. In reality, most of the power comes from our lower body and specifically our pelvis region. Without fine tuning this area, we will have flaws and lose valuable power through our swing.

This is where the GOLF MTRx APP comes in as the only mobile technology that zeros in on one of the most important areas and identifies any weaknesses while giving the player drills to improve and address the inconsistencies, therefore, giving the player more confidence and a more efficient swing…that equals power. Who doesn’t want more power.

Is it Easy to Use

Bottom line here is absolutely. When I take an interest in something, it had better be easy to use. These days we are all about ease of use and the Golf MTRx is just that.  Just think about it…you download the APP onto your IPhone or Ipod Touch, tuck it into your waistband (secure it between your belt and pants or I used it just tucked between my skin and shorts—making sure it is secure) and you are ready to go. No apparatus to hold it in place, no clips, no extra appendage…just you and your IPhone.

This is where you can really get the most out of your practice sessions. The Golf MTRx APP is best utilized when you are on the range and hitting several balls in a row. Once you are ready to hit,  tap the ‘record and analyze’ button, tap ‘start recording’, and tuck it into your waistband and start swinging away.  Once you are finished hitting a few balls, pull it out of your waistband and double click on the ‘stop recording’ icon—takes two taps so there is never an issue with accidentally hitting the stop button while swinging.

What I did notice, once I actually turned the volume on (I needed to wait until the players around me had stepped away from the range, I heard a ‘beep’ after each swing. I realized it was telling me it has a successful record of that swing—excellent feature!

One thing to note is that it is pretty darn good at detecting a swing vs. any random movements, but one session I found I hadn’t secured it well enough and the data was a bit off. However, it was just an oversight by me and easily corrected because it made sense…besides, I so didn’t want my IPhone launching down the range with my awesome new found power, so securing it was a priority.

What does the MTRx Give You

Instant feedback! Plain and simple. You get what we all strive for—instant gratification in detailed and accurate feedback on each swing.

‘The swing recognition algorithm uses the motion sensor to obtain 3-axis motion data. The clock times the components of the swing. The microphone detects the impact sound of the club hitting the ball. MTRx plays a “ding” sound when each swing is recorded.’

The APP senses the motion of your backswing because you start at ‘still’ and begins taking in the data throughout the entire swing until impact. It will sense turn speed, acceleration during backswing and the acceleration of the downswing. Pretty great, eh?!

It also keeps tabs on your core area ‘hips-pelvis’ and records its position. Once you have finished the swing, you are fairly still—well we should be—and that swing is complete and the data is stored.

After you have completed your swings and stopped the recording you will see exactly how each shot faired. Detailed and quality feedback is gathered on each swing. Then it is time to take a look and the MTRx APP will break it all down for you in easy to reach and decipher formats. You will see where you need improvement by the drills the APP will give you based upon the data it has taken from your swing session. Hey, this is way better that a caddie that talks back!

You can even rate a swing. For example, if you feel you struck the ball exceptionally well, it will allow you to record that swing as 4 star best ball contact swing. On the contrary if you feel it was one of your worst ball impact moments, you can record a 1 star = worst contact.

Bottom line is you will receive all the information you need to better your game and your score. Once you download the APP, take a moment to check it all out just a few minutes before you start hitting. Won’t take you long I promise.

Final Thoughts

I went into the review with a bit of skepticism and came out a true believer. I totally see where I am missing in power and will am currently applying the drills to rectify my weakness.

Technology continues to evolve and so must we. I love my Zeroline MTRx APP and it is now part of my daily practice routine to be sure I am harnessing and releasing the power from my core to the ball and beyond. I see lots of red numbers in my future!

Let me reiterate the reason this APP is crucial to your overall success: The Pelvis is your core power source and you need to discover if you are utilizing it at its best. Without the power of your pelvis, you will be missing out on the power, consistency and efficiency in your swing. The pelvis and gathering the data like the Golf MTRx APP does is a vital part of your overall success and in meeting your golfing goals.
